Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge is located within a remote and exclusive concession in south-eastern Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Offering great game viewing year round, Hwange National Park boasts diversity of wildlife. Tum Tum is the newest lodge from Imvelo Safari Lodges and was designed to be both elevated and eco-conscious. Intertwined within the camelthorn trees, Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge creates an atmosphere of floating above the game below.
The six room, 12 bed lodge is situated in attractive teak and camelthorn woodland overlooking a series of waterholes along an inter-dune trough. Four elevated treehouses feature en-suite bathrooms, well-appointed on beautiful wooden decks with insulated canvas walls, sliding glass doors and windows, showcasing the ancient camelthorns in which they are perched. Guests are able to watch wildlife wandering below them from the comfort of their treehouse bedroom or deck. For the less mobile, a luxury tent on a raised wooden platform about 1 metre above ground, with 2 bedrooms ensuite, provides flexible accommodation options for families as well as couples and honeymooners.
Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge is a lodge where our guests can slow down and relax on their decks to enjoy the wildlife parade below. The activities at Tum Tum will provide guests with opportunities to take game drives, bush walks, as well as visiting the rhino and Cobra Rangers in nearby Mlevu Sanctuary.
Mandiseka Look Up blind – Two km from Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge at Mandiseka, one of the famous old waterholes of Hwange, we have installed a ground level Look Up blind with ensuite bathroom. Imvelo’s Look Ups are famous for providing excellent photographic opportunities as well as close up experiences with Hwange’s famous elephant.
Imvelo’s Mlevu Rhino Sanctuary – Imvelo partnered with the Mlevu community to set up a rhino sanctuary on their land. Our rhino are guarded 24/7 by the Cobras Community Wildlife Protection Unit. Visitors will be given an overview of the scope and vision of this award-winning and ground-breaking project, as well as an understanding of Imvelo’s broader community and conservation commitments, before heading out to find the rhinos themselves.
Note: every guest staying at Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge pays a Community Rhino Conservation Initiative levy of US$220 per person per stay; these funds all go into the rhino sanctuary along with community projects in the nearby villages.
Community Visit – This fascinating morning tour visits the school and/or the homestead of a local elder and is often the unexpected highlight of a safari, with a welcome sealed with endless smiles and laughter.
